Description“Sweep the leg”. Ain’t gonna work, Kreese :)19th new artist add of 2021 here with Aaron Conley’s 11x17 nostalgia overflowing rendition of Daniel-San and crew from the first Karate Kid flick. Fellow kids of the ‘80s…yeah…you get it :) Was lucky enough to nab this by being just quick enough on the Felix site trigger on one of his recent drops. Aaron was commissioned by a company to do some ‘80s movie art to adorn the walls with for when employees starting come back to the office after working from home due to the pandemic. He did 6 and this was the one I was targeting. He’s planning to do some prints soon – see the ‘80s style coloring used in the additional image below! Got lots here from the flick exhibited – crane kickin’ Daniel, chopstick holdin’ Miyagi, Johnny, Ali, and the skeleton costumed Cobra Kai. I also dig the 2 dojo symbols in the background, and the closer was that he hand lettered “The Karate Kid”, and he did it in the lettering style of the new “Cobra Kai” Netflix show vs the Times New Roman font of the movie :) Season 4 starts on December 31! I have been looking out for, and may be commissioning, more movie themed art. We’ll see. I do dig the more photo-realistic pieces I see but personally tend more towards the more stylized takes, like this by Aaron. The subject matter is clear but love seeing unique takes – like this super cartoony one by Aaron! Fun stuff! Social/Sharing |

That's not Val Armorr! But seriously, really nice piece! I think that every kid in the 80's loved this movie.

Lol! Yeah, not Val, but I think both honor the namesake well :) Mayhaps a Val vs Daniel commission?! Hmmm... :) Thanks for the add, Travis, as well as everyone else - always appreciated!

"Get him a body bag, yeaaaaah!"
Ranks right up there with "here's looking at you kid", "May the force be with you" and "kick his ass, Sea Bass" for best movie lines.

What the heck is going on?! I literally just left George Hage a comment on a Conley piece he had posted 16 days ago that I had somehow missed, and then I see your name on top of his in my watched list, and it's for your very own Conley piece! I love strange coincidences. I really love this piece too, as I'm a huge fan of the original Karate Kid film and in spite of how cheesy so much of it is, I also have really loved Cobrai Kai. This piece perfectly encapsulates the mythos!

Ha ha, them coincidences do happen pretty often with this stuff, huh?! Love George's piece, too - another nod by Aaron to film/tv :) Definitely some cheesiness to Cobra Kai but it's FUN. Entertain me, I'm good! Thanks, Ruben!

So wicked! Love the mondo esque nature of this piece. Looks like a super limited cover to a criterion release! Congrats on another masterful (wink wink) addition to your arsenal!

Love the piece
"It's the moment of truth, it's all on the line, this is the place, this is the time, you've waited forever, it's now or it's never, nothing can stop you now" Ha! Yeah, I don't know the songs form this flick at ALL :) Thanks, JN!

Yaayy, Season 4 of Cobra Kai!! Can't wait. Love that series. And I really love all the details -- as well as the cartoony artistic style -- on this movie poster piece (especially that super pissed-off look on Johnny's face). Really brings back some great memories of the Karate Kid movies. Congrats on grabbing this one!

For this level of nostalgia, there is no defense. HIYAAAA! What a fantastic collage of scenes from the movie, and perfectly laid out on the page. I really like Mr. Miyagi with the chopsticks on top. Conley probably could've put a fly in there, too. ;) And I think I had a pair of jams that were the same colors as the final print. Heh. Great piece, Kahlil. You're educating us all on new artists. Thanks and congrats!

Too bad your wife made you get rid of the jams ;) New artist for me, too, but I gotta give fellow CAF collector posters, including George H, some credit for turning me on to Conley! Thanks, man!
