DescriptionIn 2024 been going 3 unpublished posts then 3 published posts and back so I’ll continue the pattern with this sublime Elektra Natchios by Jeff Dekal!Heroes Con was yet again another awesome time – seeing collector buds, talking with artists, getting art…one of the best shows out there for all of that. On Friday right before the hall closed, I checked out all the art going up for next night’s auction, and there were just a few I took pics of as targets and this was one. It’s like she was looking through me :) So I went for it. Went higher than I would have hoped, but I loved it, proceeds went to a worthy cause (Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research in memory of Richard Thompson), was having a BLAST with buds, and…I may have had a little more oomph to bid due to some spiritual encouragement. And by spiritual here I mean spirits. I tend more towards the traditional comic book-y look with OA vs the more photo realistic one, but this was an easy exception. Gorgeous face, perfect expression. And stylistically, I love the contrast of the realistic lighter grey details of her face vs the blacker and more organic area surrounding. I wasn't in the market for a Dekal piece but this one literally just hit me right when I saw it. Happy it’s home. Thanks, Jeff, and Heroes! Social/Sharing |

Personally I trend 50/50 on the traditional comic book-y look vs more realistic ones, so I go both ways. This one is absolutely spectacular, so I'm glad you landed yourself a bit of realism that you can live with!

Fantastic realism with what seems like very few brush strokes. Dekal is pretty impressive!

Dekal's art is on another level as it crosses boundaries between different artistic styles and techniques, but it's almost always pretty awesome! Beautiful Elektra!

Good point, D. Since I've gotten it I've looked at more of Dekal's work here on CAF and he really does change things up stylistically and technically, as you note, depending on what he's doing. Dig that versatility for sure. Thanks, man, and all, for the comments!

One could argue that this face is almost too "glam" for the character, but it's just so darn beautiful. Not sure who this was modeled after (I'm getting a Gal Gadot vibe) but if they were to cast this face for a new Elektra movie, I'd be standing in line for it.

Such a beautiful portrayal of Elektra, and yes, the money definitely went to a great cause, so you can feel better about dipping into your pocket a bit deeper than you had planned. Sounds like you had a really great time at Heroes Con, which is always nice to hear.

"Spiritual encouragement" indeed! It's a beautiful visual, man...so you made the right decision with or without the extra dose of liquid oomph :)

I love Jeff's work and enjoyed meeting him at C2E2 this year. Got a great piece from him, an etching. But this is really wonderful, his style is so unique and this is a fine example of it. Entirely unique. Congrats!

That is an amazing PICTURE. I love how the artist has captured Elektra's magnetism... her expressions is as fierce as it has to be! A wild beauty. SUPERB.

Great image - great win - it's the ones you don't bid on that you regret not the great images when you win - congrats

Beautiful piece. Love the mixed techniques on it.
Would the face be considered illustrative or stencil art?

Jeff absolutely killed this. I'm going to add "bring friends to an auction" to my list of don'ts. lol I'm sure you guys had a great time but peer pressure can be a mofo. At least the consolation was a magnificent piece of art.

Oh for sure, or mayhaps...they were trying to hold me back?! :) In any case, happy this made it home! Glad you like, man, and thanks for the add!

Holy gadzooks! Your description is spot on: "sublime" is the first word that comes to mind when viewing this masterpiece. It feels infused with a wispy, dreamlike element that is as dangerous as a razor thin shard of poisoned plate glass. Make no mistake, this thing will shiv you in the heart, and all you can do about it is... sai? (Sorry) Congrats on picking up a phenomenal piece by Mr. Dekal, for a great cause, at a great event. Bullseye!

Ourstandng! I love this Elekta/Daredevil portrait by Jeff Dekal. I'm struck by the way her eyes bore into you. Just the sort of woman who might become Elektra. I can just imagine meeting her at a bar or someplace and her eyes taking you in, assessing you, I imagine it would feel pretty uncomfortable. Jeff's style is as striking as his subject. I love the shaded grey of her eyes contrasting with the rich blacks of her hair and bandana. I'm intrigued by the somewhat blurry parts of the art--on her bandanna, in her hair and on her cloak--they give the art a somewhat unfinished look. Overall, I'm very impressed by Jeff's work and I'd like to see more of it.

Beautiful! Such great handling and so much variety in the brushstrokes and edges. Dekal went so soft and light with the eyes compared with all the bold blacks and hard edges everywhere in the image, but they still draw my attention immediately
