The exchange went a little like this:

Budd: So who d'you want me to draw for you?

Me: I'd like Shadowcat. Kitty Pryde. From the X-Men.

(Budd's eyebrow goes up. You can almost see what he's thinking, like it was in a thought bubble: "Kitty? Isn't she, like, an A-cup or something? When the Hell was the last time I drew an A-cup???")

Budd: Uhm...okay. Got a pose in mind? A costume?

Me: Not really. I figure, you're Budd Root, right? I know what I'm getting into, here. You want to draw her phasing out of her clothes or something--fine. Just go nuts with it and have fun. Besides...I don't have any nudes in my collection yet.

Budd (grinning): I think I can do that.

And, as you can see...he did.

This piece is so full of win. Very fun and Kitty is beautiful. Those A cups are more like C cups here, but hey, to Budd Root, those are probably the smallest breasts he's ever drawn in his life ;-)

After seeing this, I wish marvel would have given Budd a stint on the book! Kitty has never looked so yummy! It's also cool to see his take on my childhood favorite, nightcrawler too. Budd is so underrated.
