DescriptionJim Lee's run on Uncanny and X-men was legendary for me and this particular issue near the end of his run was a favorite. Issue #8 has the X-men taking a day off, has Gambit and Rogue's "first date", Psylocke flirting with Scott to cause problems, then a Gambit vs Bishop fight, and finally ends with some origin stuff about Gambit and even Ghost Rider pops up. It was a great, fun issue that was very memorable to me. This piece is yet another in the sequence I have been trying to reassemble for years now. As a major fan of Gambit and Rogue, I decided this sequence was something I needed to put back together if I could and the obsession has grown over the years lol. When this piece was at auction a few years ago on Heritage, I couldn't afford to go as high as it ultimately went for and lost it and it sucked. So when it popped up again for auction on ComicLink this time I knew I would have to go really hard on it to secure it because a lot of people knew I would be chasing it. (I got a lot of emails letting me know it was on C-link, but I knew that since it was first posted as a preview for the upcoming featured auctions) I knew this page would be expensive because of the awesome full figure Rogue in the first panel, but even I didn't know it would go so high at the end. But you have to weigh what it is worth now, what it will be worth later, and what it would cost later to get if I missed out again and the price doubled again. So I had a talk with my wife and surprisingly she completely understood and told me to do it. (gotta love a supportive wife!) This ended up being the single most expensive art purchase I have ever made in over 15 years of art collecting but I couldn't miss out on it again. I regret nothing, and am very happy to have added this page to the collection. :) Social/Sharing |

Not sure why you would mark this item as permanent collection? ;) Heck of a Jim Lee X-men page. Congrats!

Jim Lee drew the definitive Rogue, and this image is reminiscent of the classic Savage Land version. Great page!

Congrats on the pickup! I had my eye on this page too (love that fourth panel), but it belongs with the rest of the pages in the sequence.
