DescriptionThis is my Holy Grail piece! A Mcfarlane original, pencils and inks, from his most notable title... Spider-Man. The writing is often criticized from this title, but few would argue against the notion that McFarlane's artwork reached its peak at this point in his career. Mostly due to the flexibility he had writing his own stories and creating his own layouts with total freedom for the first time. Though Spawn originals are even RARER, his work in the Spidey solo series is considered by many to be his best.Social/Sharing |

Congratulations on this acquisition. It may not be the best page in showing Spiderman's body and costume, but the art and action is still something to behold.

At this time in his career, McFarlane was making use of a lot of negative space to save time and apply a more stylized effect.

This 2 part story arc is w/out a doubt my favorite of Todd's narrative and artistic offerings on Spider-Man - he absolutely nailed GR and this page is a perfect example of that! Congrats dude!!!

Congrats dude!!!Thanks again Jason, I agree totally with your statement. Although I don't really remember the story arc in this 2-parter. Guess I'm gonna have to revisit these issues.

I really love the expressionistic quality of his work during this period. Todd was one of those rare artists who really knew what his audience wanted. Great example of why 1991 rocked.

And between McFarlane, Lee, Williams, and Keown... 91' - 92' experienced some of the greatest detail work and visionary expressionism in comic history.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments. Ya, I was thankful Justin parted with this one too, believe me! Now I can say I own a McFarlane from his Amazing and Spidey solo series. Not to mention the Hulk. I'm humbled by the opportunities.
