DescriptionThis painted cover by Simone Bianchi shows the Batman standing in the shadows while fully wrapped in his cape. Simone's stylistic impression of the characters that he paints are like Renaissance works of art. The cape drapes around Batman like the wings of an actual bat. This cocoon like image portrays a shadowy and eerie version of the Dark Knight. The shadows play tricks on the eye that almost look like faces enclosed within the cape. All of Bianchi's cover images from this run were fantastic. Social/Sharing |

Could it be that he is crouching. That big thing sticking out of his chest looks like his knee unless it's a new bat-deformity. Either way, great artwork. That is a great observation. It would appear that the knee is up under the cape. He may have a leg up on the base of the column as well. The shadows in the wrap of his cape make it difficult to be certain but I agree with your comment

It's a pity they hold their readers in so low regard and they show so little respect for the work of such an artist. Thanks for sharing this great piece by Simone!

How do you go back to this guy and say "we're not using this cover"
