DescriptionThe story goes that George Lucas wanted to hire Moebius to work on the original Star Wars, but it didnt work out. However, he did do this piece of art when the movie was released. It appeared as a cover to a French magazine for the release, and then later on was used a Topps card. And I am sure it was used in other places as well. With the original SW films, Fox and Lucas let local artists from each country work on movie posters and such for their home country. This doesn't happen anymore. I would argue this is THE premiere piece of French SW art, done by one of the true masters. Heck, it's one of the best pieces I have at all!Social/Sharing |

Wow! Classic Moebius. what size in the art itself, and what materials were used for it? Lovely piece of art.

Ha! He's got the X-Wing shooting lasers from its nose. I'd guess this was commissioned back in the day before the actual film was released for him to see... John Berkey did a wicked Star Wars painting of a space dogfight that has four Millenium Falcons in it.

Maybe you could alswo write the story on how you discover her existence and how you came to see it for real.

Great to see Moebius doing his take on Star Wars. Imagine Star Wars if Moebius had been there for the design stages...

Holy cow, this is freaking amazing. Congrats, David, a beauty! And, if you don't know this already, I remember reading a poll of favorite science-fiction/fantasy/adventure movies that Moebius participated in, and Star Wars was his pick.

Beautiful and incredibly charming--I love that it puts C3-PO (as opposed to Darth, Luke, etc.)--front and center...

The combination of Moebius's trademarked dashed penstrokes with spot-on coloring to subtly achieve 3P0's metal patina is astounding to me. A perfect alchemy of great art and pop culture (compelling me to use all my fancy words...!). Let me be the first to tell you that your collection is amazing
