Description'Dreamiest of dreams. O goaliest of goals. O grailiest of grails. I beseeched thee, and , for miracles do occur, you appeared, through the letterbox dropped.'Can one overuse purple prose when a dream comes true? I had hoped beyond hope that I would one day get this. I found out the artist, Sydney Jordan, still had this over a decade ago. I begged him to sell it but he said it was a keeper. He said he would leave it to me in his will. Hes a very generous guy. Thankfully that did not have to happen. I preferred the idea of giving him money so that he could get something or do something with it while hes alive and he finally agreed to let it go! If you do not realise why I am so excited, read the story, Wondrous Lamp. This is the moment; the reason why the world is saved, and the frankly violent, insane aliens are defeated. I would have swapped anything in my collection to get this. Thankfully he understood my passion. This will jump one step ahead of what I have put on the site as my favourite piece of comic art, as frankly I never thought I would have it and had set my sights one step below. From this lofty point I can now rest. This is the pinnacle of pinnacles for me. Nobody on the site has anything I would swap for this. Thank you once again, Sydney Jordan! Social/Sharing |

When you make it over to this side of the pond, you can have a look in person, if the ones I faithfully serve, give me time off to show it.

They did drop the surprise episode today with “A Dream of a Thousand Cats" adapted. It is obviously inspired by this piece we see before us. Best of CAF 2022 nominee.

I was going to mention 'Dream of a thousand cats' in my previous comment...i had no idea they were doing that own...so who knows? Redemption may be at hand...
PS: I will not stoop to the level of making low jokes such as 'they'll probably recast the cats as dogs...' because such things would surely be beneath me...

As a lifelong Gaiman fan who has been disappointed in many of his TV/film adaptations, I have to say I have been please overall with the Sandman.

I've never read this so I don't get the context. But I don't have to - when someone lands the graliest of grails, you just have to be happy for the guy! Huge congrats to you!!

I do not plug many things but this story is one of the most memorable things I have ever read. The stories produced at the time on this strip are mind bogglingly well written and drawn. Science fiction just does not get better and I read an awful lot of science fiction over the years. Get the reprints in english. They will blow your mind and are not that expensive to buy. Win. Win.

I totally get the love for this piece, it's pretty awesome. Not sure if it's on the X-Men level but each to their own. Pretty great line work and certainly a fun piece for any collector to call their own. Congrats!

This cat defeated an alien invasion. The aliens could have defeated Wolverine with a magnet. Whats your dog done for you lately? I had six dogs over the years but have been won over to the other side since I got my first cat. Cats are better dogs! They are not as needy. They do not bark. They clean themselves and at least try to cover up their poop.

Love sydney Jordan 's work and would love to see more of it repritned at an affrodable price in the states. Not heavily into cats but do have a giant mutant Kitten battling a TREX from the American Kona comic book!

Its not just cats with me. The whole series is wonderful. As you say, it would be wonderful to see a nice reprint in English. The club did their best but when comparing the originals to the printed version it looked they were given fifth generation photocopies. He still has thousands of strips left. I hope to sell some of them for him. Let me know if you are looking for a particular one. I can ask if he still has it.

Wow that's just the kind of page I love, great well drawn art, where the artists pours every ounce of talent on the page AND a fun story that sparks you imagination... it can be read and enjoyed self contained all in one panel, sure you want to go back and read the whole arc, but it you don't ever do that, everything you need is right here to set your mind wandering ...so much fun! Also, your story of acquiring the piece is what makes our hobby the best, the relationship between the artist and his loving fans. CONGRATS!!!
