DescriptionTwo different requests came in for monsters. One request was for a tight pencil image of King Kong! The other request was for an image of Godzilla! What are the odds of that happening?? I couldn't believe the luck of having my two favorite movie monsters to draw, so I took full advantage of the situation. I decided to produce a double-page spread image! Each person received one half of the overall image with their monster request. I took great pains to make both halves work independently of the overall image, and also in conjunction with the other half. NOT an easy task, but I think I managed to pull it off. Each half was 11"X17" and was drawn on bristol board.King Kong (enlarged to Japanese film proportions) carries part of the Tokyo Tower in his right hand. I tried to draw a Kong that combined elements of the 1933 original film, as well as elements from more modern interpretations. Personally, I'm partial to the original Kong, but I was happy to do my own take on him. I tried to present a Godzilla that is both classic and modern also, but still with the look of the "rubber suit" films I remember well. I wrote the monsters' names in Japanese characters above them. Hope you enjoy this one! Social/Sharing |

ASSKCKIN'!!!Thanks, Kevin. This piece was a fun one to do. When it was all said and done, it was like looking at the screen of the RAMPAGE arcade game (for those who remember it). Heh. Mostly, I'm proud to have figured out a way to combine both requests into a double-splash image that could be enjoyed individually or as a whole. Dave and Nick--if you're out there, I hope you enjoyed your artworks.
