DescriptionI love this series! Fabian Nicieza and Kevin Maguire created a definitive, short of Jack King Kirby, look at the Captain America origin story. Terry Austin and Josef Rubinstein provided wonderful inks for seperate issues. This page features inks by Terry Austin. I would have loved to see Kevin complete this series, as his Cap is just fantastic. This page features a great action sequence. It would be great to see these creators take another shot at the character. My preference would be for the same era. I was fortunate to find three pages shortly after the series ended. Sorry for the image, as it was too large for my scanner. the image is a photo.Social/Sharing |

The guy was slow, but his work was always worth the wait

I re-read this not too long ago, and I have to say that Maguire's work on the series was truly amazing. This page is a great example of that. It was really unfortunate that he didn't get to finish the series.

The creators put a lot of love into these pages.

Yep, great page indeed! It is a modern comix tragedy that Marvel didn't let Maguire finish this one -- it would still be in print today!

I cannot believe, even in it's unfinished state, that it has not been reprinted in a complete volume. Were I Bill Gates wealthy, I would commission Kevin to finish the series. I'm glad you enjoyed this page from my collection.

Such a great page from the series!
George,
Thanks. I, too, love that series. Wish Maguire had been able to complete the series. Many wonderful pages throughout!
