Description

Another Western genre masterpiece featuring Bob Pryor, The Rio Kid by the great George Rozen.

This is a tightly rendered pencil cover prelim for the 1945 Winter issue of "The Rio Kid Western".

Depending on what chronology and format you accept (back in the wacky days of the Pulps, things were not as tightly tracked as today), The Rio Kid ran from either 1935 - 1955 or 1939 - 1953.

Penciled on 7.5 X 10.25 Vellum. A gorgeous work of art.

I've got more Pulp art to share soon, so I hope those who visit are really enjoying this look back at the nearly lost American artform that pre-dates the comic book.

All the elements are here and are directly transferred to the painting. Only difference would be the text placement. I do like that the word gold is over the bright yellow color in the painting.

Yup! And I like that Rozen hand drew the logo on all these covers too!
