DescriptionThis is one of those stories that transcends our hobby.Tim Faurote is a wonderful artist well known to those who collect Pulp art. His work on the iconic characters of the Pulp era are fantastic representation of the genre. His art is dynamic, modern, yet true to the original subject matter. For me, it's his Doc Savage work that impresses me most. I've bought lots of merchandise, prints, and trading cards from him over the last few years, so when I saw his latest print made available of The Avenger, The Shadow, and Doc Savage together in powerful fashion, I just had to buy one. Tim is always very fair in his terms, but when I saw the invoice I thought he was too fair in his shipping cost. I added slightly more funds to the transfer to cover what I thought would be his actual cost, as I didn't want him to lose any money. He responded with a prompt and kind "thank you" and told me there'd be a little something extra in the package. Well, time and events happen in life and some dark days ensued between the time I ordered the print and when it arrived. The box was a welcome sight that day... and I totally forgot about Tim's pledge. When I opened the box I was delighted with the print! It's one of the best things he's done. But also in the box I was shocked to find a hand drawn Sketch Card of none other than Doc Savage! This boost was just what I needed on that trying day. I was so thrilled, I'm not ashamed to say my eyes even teared up a little. I love Doc Savage... this Tim knows. But one look at my CAF gallery reveals just how much I love Sketch Cards! I doubt Tim has looked here, so there was just no way he could have known that! This is the magic of our hobby and the fine people who practice it. Social/Sharing |
