DescriptionI met our very own Eranga at Heroes this year and what a cool guy he is. I've wanted to get a piece from him for awhile, and we talked at Heroes about a commission. One of the things that I love about Eranga's work is when he plays with perspective. He has such a great eye for using perspective as an integral part of the visual story telling. I asked Eranga to do Spidey, and bring what he wanted to the perspective.Well as you can see he delivered and then some. Eranga told me about his idea for the composition and I was all for it. He sent a prelim sketch and I knew this was going to be a winner. Seeing this in person puts it at a whole new level. The line work, the use of ink wash on it and of course Spidey web slinging about the New York crowd below him. Thrilled to add this to my collection, and the fact that is from our very own Eranga makes it all the better. Thanks for this bud! Social/Sharing |

I love the worm's eye view. The negative space of the sky really accentuates those crazy buildings and the way they loom above the intersection. Spidey right in the middle of the perspective too. Great commission.

My favorite part is the 616 civilians, oblivious to Spidey swinging a few feet over their heads.

SO good! Totally upright perspective works perfect for Spidey, and works to GREAT effect here as done by Eranga! Congrats!

The buildings, the perspective, the Spidey costume and pose, the people on the street - all spectacular!

(Cover your eyes, Eric...) but Screw Spider-man in this piece!! It's all about those buildings and people on the ground. Wow! Okay, Spidey is a little cool as well! Great piece by a great guy.

You're not wrong Johnny, but why do you say things just to hurt me! :)

Haha. Hurt people hurt people. I guess I still haven't forgiven Peter for letting Ben die (spoiler alert).

FANTASTIC commission, Eric! If you Google Map this thing, you can even see the web line that Spidey left behind! Excellent perspective and beautiful choice of setting; the real-life architecture provides a wonderfully compelling (and visually arresting) backdrop for this slice of "everyday" New York life. My favorite part would have to be that streetlight and the ink wash in the light bowls, as well as how Eranga washed Spidey's feet (er....). Absolutely LOVE this. Master D strikes again! Great work, Eranga, and fabulous commission, Eric!

Eranga's story is so inspiring that it is easy to forget he is a damn fine artist! The perspective here is very well done and the figures are beautiful. This reminds me of the work of Mike Perkins, which is a great compliment from me. Congratulations!
