Description

A number of years ago I acquired this cover art by artistic genius L.B. Cole. I was pretty happy believe me since I know how rare original Cole art is (especially a cover). Of course the only part of the art to survive was the incredible pencils and inks by Cole because as is typical of a lot of comics the Logo and the other lettering was stripped from the piece and lost to time.
As a whim, I decided to do my own lettering and logo. Of course since I am no artist (and certainly not a letterer) my amateurish attempt shows thru. Still, it was a lot of fun to do, and now I got to see what the original cover (somewhat) looked like intact when it was first published in 1951.
Doesn't hurt that the cover featured 3 of the great Brooklyn Dodger players either.
