Description

This amazing Pogo daily from July 3, 1965 by Walt Kelly arrived today. I had been been looking for a great piece by Walt Kelly for some time but I just hadn't found the right piece to add to the collection. When I saw this piece listed I immediately knew it was the one that I had been waiting for. The piece is incredibly cute featuring Rackety Coon Chile, Alabaster Alligator, Bunny Chile and Pogo Possum doing a Fourth of July Gag. What is not to like? You have Pogo in every panel as well as the Swamp Sprats.

Rackety Coon Chile and Alabaster Alligator are seen carrying in what appears to be a giant firecracker as Pogo is busy fishing. Alabaster lights the fuse and out pops Bunny Chile yelling Bang. I love the third panel. I laugh every time I see the excitement as Bunny Chile pops out and Pogo moves back in surprise. A fantastic example of Walt Kelly's art that I am thrilled to finally have in my collection.
