DescriptionDo I love this page? Let me count the ways!! The team of Gil Kane and John Romita worked particularly well here; Kane’s dynamic and sometimes underrated layouts, combined with Romita’s lush finishes really make for an "inky" and very attractive page. Spider-Man #96 had no Comics Code and this was due to the memorable anti-drug storyline. I’m happy to have a page from the story. This page in particular lays out Spider-Man’s relationship with the quintessential villain of his, Green Goblin. The first panel re-creates Romita’s first Spider-Man cover, #39, and the fact that Kane pencilled it, makes the panel his homage to his inking partner for this issue. We see both Spider-Man in costume and with his mask off. Lastly, I bought this issue off the stands when I was a kid. I don’t usually buy nostalgia but I did here, because of all these factors combined. A home run page for me which will be framed and bowed before on a regular basis! And thanks, Mr. Burkey.Social/Sharing |

I bow from a distance Rob. A dynamic page of action and tension. I agree with your positive critique of Kane's dynamic layout skills with Romita's masterful inking that beautifully ties everything together.

Sometimes, nostalgia and artistic merit come together and present to future generations something special.

Stunning and significant page. I love the classic qualities of Romita pencils--but man did things get dynamic with Kane pencilling. Congrats!

What a page!!! And what a collection! You have great taste Rob. Our "only" difference in accordance with your description is that I only buy what was nostalgic to me (in the art market, that is). Part of the reason when a buy something, it's usually gone from the market indefinitely.....

This page is the very definition of Holy Grail and you are the luckiest SOB on the planet to have it! Everything you said in your description is true and this could not be a more iconic page. Congrats on the ultimate Kane/ Romita Spidey page!
