DescriptionThe somewhat occasional team of Bill Everett inks over Jack Kirby pencils was a majestic and old school combination that really made an impact on me. Everett is such a master in his own right, and his subtle and very fine inking on Kirby's bold and confident design is the best of two geniuses who helped develop our art form. It's exciting to own a great splash page from this duo and this one is very special-- I love the intimately close up image of Thor and Mjolnir... it is the stuff of memories and stories and images like this made the Marvel age so great for me-- then and NOW.Social/Sharing |

Excellent splash from a rare but incredible duo! This was the best buy of that auction--I wondered who lucked out. Congrats on such a well-chosen pick-up!

Great acquisition Rob. Everett's wonderfully varied inking strokes, some hard, some feathered, add strength and beauty to Kirby's pencil dynamics.

Great looking splash made that much better by Everett's brilliant inking.

Great call on Mjolnir - the cross-hatching above Thor's head is pretty slick also!

Now, you see, this is why Marvel always did it for me more than DC, when I was a kid. For all the blam, boom, swish, pow, mysticism, space-hopping, etc. Here is the God of Thunder, creeping up the side of a house and peeking in a window. They found a way to humanize all their characters, no matter how grandiose, in a way that made them more relatable to me.
This page is just a young Marvel Comic fan from the day, like myself's dream come true.
