This was the slipcase art for Wandering Star's deluxe ed of Robert E. Howard's Complete Conan of Cimmeria: (1935) v. 3 (aka The Conquering Sword of Conan). Greg Manchess at his best!

Thanks, Frank! We talked to Greg literally for YEARS about buying this piece; unlike many artists, he holds onto his originals and is never really in a hurry to sell them. But...we fell in love with this this first time we saw it; for us, this is iconic of a Conan painting as is one of Frazetta's or Brom's. It's a different take on the character, and yet it feels "right," you know? Just as there are iconic Conan paintings by Gary Gianni (one of Gary's is, IMO, one of the best ever done) and Mark Schultz (Conan & Belit: a knock-out!): we'll never have the opportunity to own one by Frank or most probably one by Gary or Mark (people are lined up for THEIR art and we're far back in the pack), but we do have this great one by Greg and a great one by Brom. And...boy, do we feel lucky!

yeah not many Manchess paintings out there especially at this level. He has really been taking his art to the next level the last couple of years. This is one of his best. Thanks for sharing.
