DescriptionEPIC GRAIL PIECE!I am beyond happy to finally add this key page of Batwoman’s origin story to my collection. This was one of THE elusive, absolutely essential pieces I’d always wanted and had been waiting years for it to resurface. The issue, and most especially this particular sequence, was practically an instant classic when it was released almost a decade ago. In "Go!" part 2, Kate Kane is outed and forced to leave West Point. When she lands in Gotham City, she leads a wild social life. After leaving a bar one night, she is assaulted by a mugger whom she fends off and then has a fateful encounter with The Dark Knight that will forever change her life. One can see the fixation in her gaze upon seeing Batman with such startling clarity, and then the Bat-Signal calling out in the dark, rainy sky. It leads her to a major realization: she’s found her way to serve once more. She will proceed to do so first as a vigilante, then eventually taking on the mantle of the Bat as Batwoman. Original comic art measures approximately 11"x17". Pencils, ink, and ink wash on bristol board. Signed by J.H. Williams III. Dated 2009. Social/Sharing |

Many thanks, Daryl! Yeah, Kate has always been near and dear to my heart but this page especially so. It also showed up at an oddly appropriate time. The parallel is not lost on me. I consider it a great omen.

Thanks, Anthony!! I know, right? Isn’t she a stunner? Mercy but I am still totally psyched over this one (maybe even more so than my Rafael auction win at Heroes and that is saying A LOT.) Speaking of which, will I see you there?
