Batgirl by Ron Salas

I started reading comics after The Killing Joke was published, so Barbara Gordon was never really my Batgirl. She was Oracle. But later I came to appreciate Babs' time as Batgirl mainly due to three things: her appearances in Batman: the Animated Series, a great two-part story in Legends of the DC Universe #’s 10-11, and the Batgirl: Year One miniseries. Barbara’s appearances in these stories showed a light-hearted, strong-willed young woman who was often in over her head, but who never gave up and used her brains just as often as she used her fists. Anyway, she was the first Bat-lady who I asked Ron to draw in this ever-continuing series of Bat-character commissions, and of course he blew me away once again. The Bat-family always looks good in spotlights, and Barbara is no exception. I love how Babs looks both like she’s been caught and like she’s about to kick butt here. And the cape is just amazing-looking. This commission here is just another example of why I give Ron my Bat-commission money. Thanks so much, Ron!

Great write-up for a stunning work of art. Her expression & stance really do read as "Okay, you caught me, but you're gonna be sorry you did." Beautiful use of light and dark contrasts.
