DescriptionClassic Dave Gibbons!I've loved this image since I first saw it in the 1983 2000AD Annual. The early versions of Rogue Trooper appear quite different from the character as we know him now, but a lot of the core elements were in place from very early on. Looking at an early typed pitch for the series it's interesting to see how many ideas were considered before things were distilled down to the final version of Rogue. Anyway, a prime slice of 2000AD history for a classic character. I've added the early stage concept text as an additional image; Dave Gibbons has now confirmed he wrote this. A lovely addition to the concept art and a rare insight into the character development process. Social/Sharing |

A few boxes left to tick, Gibbons being one of the obvious ones, and I felt this piece was worth coming out of semi-retirement for.

Just fabulous to to see this going to such a generous and knowledgeable collector...any chance that you are going to post the text piece too? I just read that up on the 2000ad site. Scripts and text work seem to come up really rarely; I'd love to get my hands on a Wagner Grant or Mills original script.

I would have hated for this (and the text) to just disappear into a collection, never to see the light of day again. Too important not to share - and I just added the text. If anyone needs a larger version, give me a shout.

I feel quite strongly that since so much of this material has been lost over time, that sharing these cultural artifacts is really quite important...
