DescriptionOnce in awhile you receive a piece that reminds you why you love this hobby so much. I’m a big fan of Cassaday’s Planetary and his now iconic Astonishing X-Men run; I’ve been waiting for just the right page to come along and this definitely exceeded all my expectations for a Cassaday piece. The feel of ink splatter expertly placed across the page, the use of white paint to bring out little details like Wolverine’s arm hair, the use of dry brush technique to create grit and grey tone, the use of body parts to frame and lead your eye to the main figure; lastly a near full splash image of my favorite X-Men character along with Armor; a great new character Wolverine has taken under his wing through out the series. Astonishing in all ways! Sick penciling and inking techniques for days, a scene depicting an orgy of violence and of course anchored by the great Wolvie! Armor in the scene is scrumptious icing on a wonderous cake. Congrats!

Thank you Chris, and totally agree! I also love that Cassaday inks his own work, though sometimes the x-titles would be off their schedule his art always made it worth the wait.

Unbelievable piece! Prime example from one of my favorite comic runs ever. Packed with energy as well as that trademark Cassaday detail. Love the berserker splash up top as well as the bottom panel with Armor, too. Color me green with envy :) Congrats!
