Description

Some of the most admirable and dynamic pages are the so called "Cliffhanger" pages.
For keeping up the readers interest ( and of course be able to sell the next issue ) Western Publishing divided the long Mickey Mouse adventure stories on 24 pages in 3 parts. Each of the 3 combined storylines contained 8 pages.
This page might be one of the most beautiful existing - and certainly eldest.
This is the cliffhanger page 8 from part 1. By reading THIS cliffhanger page, as a reader you could`nt barely wait a whole month for reading the next issue with the following up part 2.
The storyline was published in 1970 in "Walt Disney Comics & Stories" # 360 as : "The Sign of The Scorpion".
This was certainly one of my favorite Mickey Mouse stories as a child.
Except from at few other survived original pages from 1960 we still haven`t seen elder examples by Paul Murry`s long Mickey Mouse adventure stories in the WDC`s regi.
Of course Carl Fallberg was the great writer to this storyline which was published over 3 monthly issues ; WDC # 360 ( part 1 ), WDC # 361 ( Part 2 ) and WDC # 362 ( part 3 ).

Great and perilous end page! Multi issued storyline required a steady hand throughout and they found it in Murry. The sound effects are so well integrated into the story.
