Thanks a lot Monty. Not the first time we have crossed our blades ;-) But good to know that we both share lot of the same fascination for great artwork.:-)
I simply can`t understand why I am the first one to comment on this beautiful piece..?
It`s been displayed on CAF for 5 years..? Wake up folks !
If ever for sale let me know as I would love to add this piece from one of my personal favorite Disney films to my collection. ( I was at the age of 7 years when it had it`s run in cinemas in 1973 ).
Anyway ; Congrats with this lovely piece.
Ok !! You nailed it with this one..! I am stunned..!
Many congrats !!
This is amazing. I am also amazed that I am bringing the first comment on this beauty..! Many congrats !
Thanks a lot for your help. I added Trevor Von Eeden as the penciller. :-)
Thanks for making it possible, Monty. ;-)
Many thanks for your nice comment, Tom. You have yourself maybe the best Hal Foster original ; The 1939 # 102 PV knighting scene. Woew !! The famous and iconic Sunday that came right after this one.
Thanks Mark. The owner said ; "I hadnt pulled out the Rogers piece for awhile and forgot how super bright it is" So you are right about the condition of the page. Btw ; Thanks for your support and to encourage me for not giving up finding a Rogers/Austin page from the Det. Com run.
I can only agree, Al. That was why I had to have this beautiful example.I have only seen one other panel from the same year. Which was actually from the very same Sunday page. If anyone out there has other 1938 panels / partly pages I would love to hear from you :-)
Sorry for late response..Unfortunately no higher scan as I sold the cover a couple of years ago.
Such a great Sunday ! And an early one too. Hal Foster peaked in this period in my opinion. Congrats a lot !
Woew ! That`s a gorgeous cover. Simply love it !
If you don`t frame and hang this one up for the next 12 months you should sell it to me ;-) Ha-ha !
Many congrats, Monty !
Just curious by checking up on newer generations actual knowledge about Agent Corrigans criminal opponents, Ray ;-)
You nailed another great description - ..again !! ;-)
Always accurate and precise analysis from you Marcus ;-) I hadn`t even noticed that funny detail myself..
Only a few weeks back this beauty was a part of my collection. :-) It is only fair that it now resides in your wonderful collection, Monty. It was a pleasure trading with you once again and I was proud to let this piece go to a good fellow collector and friend. Congrats Monty - it`s such a great cover by Tony Strobl. And as you stated - maybe even the best one out there.
Woew ! This is really a stunning daily. Many congrats on this one, Monty. I do understand your fascination for Alex Raymond. He was a master which this beautiful example proves to perfection.
Woew ! Great page and a good choice, Antonio. Many congrats. Love the flash back in time sequences on this page. For your information I gave this page a grade A ( the best page category ) on my Barks website. ;-) : http://www.carlbarkscomicbookart.dk/index.asp?loadContent=231650
I am always impressed by your great analysis Marcus :-)
..Say`s the man who has one of the very best Barks oil paintings and a superb page example from the iconic Barks classis story "Back To The Klondike" ;-) Well - your Barks collection is quite remarkable too, Monty. But many thanks for the nice comment anyway. ;-)
Yep ! I didn`t noticed that in the first place -but as always very exact and sharp analysis by you Marcus ;-)
A great page from a great story. Congrats a lot Oistein. :-)
Many congrats Monty :-) A Barks page with Scrooge and the Beagle Boys is always something really special.
Outstanding and rare. I don`t know why I have never seen these before..?!? Many congrats Joakim.
I am not a Jean-Claude Mèzières expert - but ths is obviously a huge masters work. Woew !! Thanks for sharing and many congrats with this amazing cover, Monty.
Matti - As you know I have always also admired your page 10 from the same story ;-)
David - just come by. You are very welcome to make a visit in my "private Museum". ;-) .
Yep - you are right Matti. I believe I will be satisfied with this one ;-)
Very good analysis, Marcus
Beautiful cover that was tough for me to part with. But I am so happy that we were able to make a trade and that the cover art ended up in your wonderful collection. Congrats Antonio.
Not really a infinity cover after all..! :-) I have attached some "close up" so it`s possible to see the artists real suggestion for the comic the nephew are reading. Seems it is a very early "Darkwing Duck" like character.
But then again : Darkwing Duck debuted in 1991 and this is a cover from 1987..! From Wikipedia :"Though Darlwing Duck was originally thought by some fans to be a spin-off of the 1987 DuckTales series, creator Tad Stones stated in a 2016 report that he believes the two shows exist in different universes. Well - who knows..! ;-)
Matti - I believe the owner before me had it for some 30 years - yes. I am not sure when it was first published as total complete story though. Maybe in the CBL US first edition in 1983 - 1990 period ? Best, Soren
Superb and stunning example by Taliaferro. Simply beautiful early craftmanship by this amazing artist. Even though I have known for years this was a part of your great collection I still admire and treasure it every time I see it. Congrats my friend.
Thanks a lot Monty :-) Yeah - we do share some common interests in certain artists for sure, doesn`t we..? I see that your collection has grown rapidly for the last couple of years - Woew !! If I should comment on every single art you purchase I would need much more time on visiting CAF much more often than for time being. LOL :-) Anyway - you have a fabulous collection. Take care my friend.
Yes - you should recognize it clearly, Manfred :-) Still one of my true gems in my collection. Thanks again for letting it go many years ago. ;-)
Beautiful art and very interesting story behind. Thanks for sharing this historical piece.
Many congrats Monty - and welcome in the little exclusive club of owners of a "Duck Oil painting" by legendary Carl Barks :-) Very impressive and thanks for sharing this gem of yours.
Wonderful MM Strip. I count 4 Mickey`s in just that first panel..;-) Congrats a lot Claudio.
- Yet another historical and beautiful piece of art has been added to your Barks collection. I salute and congrats with this new acquisition. :-)
At last !! :-) Sorry - I can`t seem to find enough superlatives to describe this amazing page, which in my opinion rates as one of the very best pages ( maybe the best ) from this great and spooky story. Matti - though you have owned the page for 30 years it`s now finally about time to officially say : CONGRATULATION !! ( And I am happy that I could contribute just a little by sending you a photo of the original script page.) :-)
Wonderful art. Can`t understand I am the first one to make a comment on this one.
