I know, not comic art related but I did meet him at the Rose City Comicon so perhaps fair game. The Sword of Shannara and the initial trilogy were among my most cherished books when I was growing up. After Tolkien there were not many good fantasy books until Terry Brooks introduced us to the world of Shannara. I was Dungeons & Dragons fan and played a few times a week for the better part of 6 or 7 years. All old school with original versions of Players Handbook, Monster Manual and the Dungeon Master's GUide. Terry Brooks novels felt like part of that world and I incorporated elements of the book into campaigns when I was the acting Dungeon Master. When I had decided to go to Portland to visit a friend and to hang out at Rose City, I was excited that Terry Brooks would be there. I finally got a chance to meet a childhood hero. After he signed I asked him to draw a little sword on the page too. I have 2 of the 3 original books I had but I must have leant my copy of the Sword to someone in the past. Thankfully I had bought the 3 in 1 some years ago for my kids to read and so was happy to have a personal copy for him to sign. Yeah, I geeked out over this one.

You can probably connect with the younger of generation of fans if you've watched the The Shannara Chronicles that aired on MTV and Spike.

Congrats on getting to meet him and get thi personalized autograph inside your copy of the book. I know how excited you were to meet him, so I also know how meaningful and special that must feel!
