It's been around for the last 30+ years anyone who has been there in the beginning has this etched in their minds.

Fantastic piece but this isn't from the opening title sequence. It's a preliminary sketch by Creative Capers for some of their merchandise. Very cool regardless!

That is what I was told but I will take your word for it. Still new to animation art. Do you have any link so I can investigate further?

Who sold it to you as such? Hopefully, you didn't pay over $100 for this. You can google 'The Simpsons creative capers' to see a few similar examples of drawings that were done by the same company specifically for Simpsons merchandise. I have a picture of this exact design but a more refined version, yours is the earliest concept as noted by number one. Blue pencil means it's a preliminary drawing.
