Description

This commission was supposed to be different.

I originally asked David to draw a reinterpretation of Earl Norem's Savage Sword of Conan #23, and change the focus of the action to have it more Red Sonja centered.
David was so much in love with Earl Norem's cover that he forgot my request and went full throttle and recreated the original painted cover to a pencil and ink faithful beauty.
Not one I had in mind or expected, I have to confess, but still so gorgeous I couldn't pass on it.

Careful with that backswing Conan. It looks like the Norem cover is a favorite of many artists who love the writhing tentacles against the power and might of our warrior heroes.
