DescriptionClearly, this is one of my 'grail' pieces. I'm a HUGE Avengers fan, and back in 1997 when word got out that George Perez was returning to the book in time for a re-launch with Kurt Busiek... I was as excited as everyone else. As it says in the top margin, this is the title splash from issue #1, page #1. It was also used (sans Giant-Man and the Wasp) as the cover for the variant edition) It's framed, so it's hard to get a great image (as it deserves) without glare or a flash, but I did the best I could. The detail is INCREDIBLE and is pure Perez at his best. It's a regal and majestic composition that pays homage to the original team (plus Captain America of course). I marvel at this one every day. ... no pun intended. Enjoy...! This is one of the most reprinted images of the Avengers ever! It often shows up as part of hard-cover collections to this day. (On 5.4.12 I added 6 close-up images due to popular demand. (And to commemorate the premier of The Avengers movie!)Social/Sharing |
