DescriptionWrightson - Stormy - ZombieThis was the first piece I ever purchased (Thanks Anthony), and one of my very first mat and framing attempts. I usually find my frames at Garage Sales, DAV's, Goodwill, etc... I have found quite a few older style frames and quite a few metal frames at very good prices this way... On the reverse of this piece is the word "Stormy"... I have to assume this was written there by Mr. Wrightson, but even if not... Seemed like a very apt title for such a beautiful (well sort of) lady... Update 01/19/2013: When I first matted Stormy, I quite literally just bought an old picture frame, removed the pre-matted piece, and Stormy fit right in. But, as I've acquired more tools and better products... Plus, learned about acid-free and preservation techniques... I knew I needed to get back to my earlier pieces and mat them properly... I still use standard mat board, but I also use acid-free comic/watercolor board at every contact point between the original artwork and any other surface which touches the art... I also take great care to painstakingly make sure that absolutely nothing is permanantly attached to the art... They are all held in by acid-free plastic corners, and no tape within 1/2-1" of the art itself... The mat board are well adhered with double-stick tape, but if one was to take their time, these can be removed without damaging the art whatsoever... Some of Wrightson's concept pieces are not very well centered to the paper, but I'm unsure as to rather or not trimming the excess paper (even if nothing is there) effects the overall value of the piece? Most of the pieces I've purchased have been in a portfolio, so I don't guess anyone cares. But, when it comes to matting, sometimes the math to center an ill centered piecs, makes it difficult to place, but it gets easier all the time. This being my first penned piece, it holds a special place for me, and now that Stormy's properly matted, she should last for quite some time to come... Social/Sharing |

Just about every piece i see by Wrightson is a new pleasure; each has its own individuality, and this is an amazing example.
