DescriptionThis is Frankenstein Alive, Alive #3 Cover & Pg.11 by legendary Bernie Wrightson. It was also used for the cover of Frankenstein Alive, Alive Trio.Inspired by Mary Shelley’s immortal gothic horror tale, Frankenstein Alive, Alive brings new life to the Promethean monster, courtesy of master horror storyteller Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) and illustrator Bernie Wrightson (Frankenstein, Swamp Thing). Victor Frankenstein’s cobbled together creature continues his adventures, embarking on a journey to discover his own humanity. Few works by comic-book artists have earned the universal acclaim and reverence that Bernie Wrightson's illustrated version of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's Frankenstein was met with upon its original release in 1983. Nearly 30 years later, Wrightson returns to his passion project with a comic series that picks up at the end of the classic novel, hailed as one of the greatest horror stories of all time. Frequent Wrightson collaborator Steve Niles provides the script for this epic, decades in the making. This art shows the exquisitely detailed work of one of the greatest artists of our time. Thanks to Joseph Vaughn for letting me acquire this from his collection. A pleasure to deal with. Check out his CAF Galley for more Wrightson work. Social/Sharing |

I don't know anyone else who could make Frankenstein's Monster look so cool other than Bernie Wrightson. Anyone else want to know where The Monster does his shopping?
Fantastic acquisition, Anthony. Huge check mark on the grail list!

Bernie is one of the very few artists whose later work is a good or better than his earlier work. What a talented guy he was.

I'm happy he came full circle with Frankenstein as the defining moment of his career to his final farewell.

Sure, you can see some of his later style elements here, but this really felt like it captured that classic Wrightson magic.
