I've been waiting on this commission for a little while, and Eric really delivered.
The only direction I gave him was that I wanted his take on the Little Mermaid and the Sea Witch. What he gave me is beautiful, scary and wow, that color. This was a Kickstarter reward for backing Eric's "Encore" hard cover. Eric decided to bump up the size on this -- so much so that you really need to take it in from across the room.
Everybody says it -- so we often ignore it -- but the scan doesn't do this justice. All of the golds are actually a metallic paint that really pops off the page.
If you haven't jumped on the Canete band wagon yet, shame on you. Go check him out. He constantly turns out some of the most creative takes on familiar characters. I am looking forward to getting on his list again in the near future.
