Description

This little gem arrived Friday in the mail. A friendly, fun commission from a friend...the best kind of gift. I know Yo Kuri from his collecting and we have talked on occasions about art and have even done a deal. I was introduced to his comic art and web comic about the same time and read it in its entirety and enjoyed it. Over the past year or so, I had seen he had been doing some commissions that were pretty cool and in varied styles. We ran into each other at Heroes and I made a little comment appreciating the commissions and joked that I need to get a Corto done one day. Just like that, I was on the list. We ran into each other again a week ago in NYC comic con and the commission was coming along. Yo was inspired and finished off the piece in the intervening days and it arrived quickly. I think this is great! It captures the carefree cut of Corto's jib with some interesting art techniques that remind me of Ted McKeever. I am happy to add this piece by a friend to my ever growing Corto Maltese commission collection.
