A Martian Odyssey
written by Stanley G. Weinbaum and adapted by Don Glut.

I received this page as a gift from the great Fisch Benz! at Comic Art Con yesterday.

The story first published in 1934, was Weinbaum's first and won acclaim for its portrayal of truly alien creatures.

The art for this story adaptation was credited to Ruben Yandoc but it appears that the credits of this issue was mixed up and the actual artist of the story was fellow Filipino, Jess Jodloman, and that another story in this issue that was credited to Nestor Redondo was actually by Yandoc.

The Unknown Worlds of Science Fiction was one of Marvel's Black and White magazine series that adapted classic Science Fiction stories interspersed with some new material. According to the editorial by Roy Thomas the magazine was successful but was not profitable enough to continue, so Roy gathered all the already produced material and published it in this last giant sized issue.

I wonder art I would find
Sci-fi gets you, I let the line caress you
Until I meet the thought of Mars Princess Who?
I often wonder what makes artwork
I guess I'll leave Science Fiction to the experts
Assuming that there's Unknown World's there
They're probably alone, Martian lair

I can remember when
I caught up with a past-time comic art friend
He said, "Bet you're probably gonna stay in New Jersey
But you probably don't bring Legion' trade me"
He was right, though, I can't lie
Jess' just one more Jodloman in my mind
So I just post art, got back from a friend
