DescriptionPer HA.com: "This is an incredible behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to get a job working for Marvel. This is Dale Keown's actual submission piece to editor Bobbie Chase, back in 1989, that landed him the long run on Incredible Hulk where he made a name for himself! He would go on to create Pitt, published by Image Comics. This smashing illustration is ink over graphite on Marvel Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15" with watercolors by Keown."Social/Sharing |

Keown crushed the interview with this piece!
He crushed it because he made the hulk in the style of Mcfarlane, lol!

"When can you start?"
As soon as Todd leaves! lol! Just can't believe the tall shoes he had to fill taking the Hulk reins from Mcfarlane at the time. But time would later show that he would crush Hulk comic art better than his predecessor,IMO. (Notice I didn't say Spiderman, only Hulk =)

I think you have the biggest collection of hulk art on this site. Thank you for sharing as well! (I especially love that Dale Keown Hulk head shot close up.)

Folks, as the original owner of this piece, and after several conversations with Dale, I can assure you that he was not trying to emulate McFarlane or his successor, Jeff Purves.
In fact, Dale got his inspiration from John Byrne.

My bad, to me it looks like a Mcfarlane Hulk, but I don't doubt his inspiration was from John Byrne. Thanks for clarification!
