Description

I bought this page from Bob Koppany back at the 2002 San Diego Comic Convention. For those of you who do not know Bob, he was quite instrumental in starting up and participating in one of the first Marvel fan clubs in the southern California area back in the late 1960s. For their involvement, Marvel sent the fan club original comic art as a sign of respect and payback for having one of the first active clubs. Bob had an unfortunate falling out with one of his club partners, and he was able to acquire some early Marvel original art pages for his efforts as he parted ways. He remained active in fandom, and I believe that he helped out at the CFA-APA for quite a few years. For a couple of years in the early 2000s, he actually had a table at the SDCC with a couple of other collectors. He had several pages from his collection that he displayed, and this one was an oddball among most of his Marvel material. While the price was rather high, I did not have a Kieth Sandman page. I have been fortunate to be the owner of this page for the past 16 years. While this one is no longer in my collection, it has gone to a serious Kieth Sandman collector. I will keep the collector that will remain anonymous at this time.

I've said it before, but while Mr. Keith thought that he was the wrong artist for Sandman, pages art like this prove him wrong. A nice page from early in the run.

John Constantine and Sandman in the same page, you cannot ask more on one page of Sandman, these early numbers are great.
