Description

Created for the cover of Wizard magazines 1994 The Dark Book (a comprehensive guide to comic book villains)this wonderful painting came from the personal collection of Gareb Shamus founder of Wizard Press.

Painter, inker, and penciler, Nelson DeCastro is truly a modern day master. This diabolical delineation of one of Spider-Man's major archenemies, by one of the renowned talents of the 1995 Marvel Masterpieces trading card set, is painted in acrylics on heavy illustration board. This wicked rendering has a nice big 14" x 20" image area.

This is an absolutely incredible painting and is practically screaming out for a commission by Nelson to do a companion piece of Spider-Man facing him.

This is a really nice large Carnage PUBLISHED piece. Good job on finding out it was actually used. I know some of these pieces were nothing compared to Shamus' other pieces but Heritage dropped the ball by not taking 2 minutes to find out if pieces were actually published. They did the same thing with the Carnage vs. Venom painting by Nelson when it was in fact used as separate Venom and Carnage cards for a subset in the 1995 Spider-Man trading card set.
