I quite like the contrast of the colourful superhero against an ordinary street in the fading light of the early evening as the street and car lights start to come on.
I saw this when it went up on Heritage and couldn't belive they got the description so wrong confusing it with the trading card so glad you knew the difference. PS I own the trading card art of this and consider your version the big brother to mine! I suspect Bob painted the poster first then re-used the concept for the trading card. Dave
Nelson is one of my fav painters (I have a number of his works on my gallery) his work is so clean and realistic.

Awesome artwork !! I believe that this was actually pencilled by Adam Kubert though. The final paints were by the Hildebrandts over a blue line copy of Adam's pencils.

Awesome cover - agree definately one of Dorman's best!! With no likeness approval issues these covers allowed a lot more freedom than Dorman's previous work.
I remember this image on a dinner mat I had as a kid. Always liked this painting. Will have to dig out that dinner mat now!!
