Description

Now I could make this one of my trademark unnecessarily long and excessively wordy descriptions about how I�ve known Gerry Turnbull almost as long as I�ve been on CAF. Or what a great guy he is (and has always been), or what a wonderful collection/gallery he has. Or that he�s an incredibly talented colorist who has generously graced many of my art pieces with his brilliant coloring skills (click here to see them all). But I think he would be better served if I just got to the point.

I was browsing through Gerry�s fine gallery one day recently, and I happened upon some wonderful prelims that looked very familiar. They were by Kevin Nowlan and looked to be design sketches for my Defenders cover. You can all probably guess what I did next. Of course I reached out to Gerry and told him that if should ever decide to part with them, I would be happy to reunite these concept pieces with the finish cover. While waiting to hear back, I imagined all the usual responses. Like, okay I�ll let you know. Or, they�re not for sale. Or, how about a trade? But I wasn�t quite prepared for the reply I got. It contained one simple question. What�s your address? Four days later, Fedex was knocking on my door.

That pretty much tells you all you need to know about Gerry. If you have not made his acquaintance, you should do yourself a favor and pop over to his CAF and say hello. You�ll be better for it.

Very generous of Gerry to gift you something from his Dr Strange collection. And yes, his colorwork I've seen on CAF is great.

Yeah, you good guys should start a club. Don't know if I'd be qualified to join, but at least I could say I was friends with all of you (plus of course all the cool free art). Thanks again buddy!

Gerry is a great guy and I'm not surprised by his generous gesture. These prelims by Nowlan are just beautiful!

If nothing less, this art reminds us the importance of swirly breast plates. Congrats!

you just reminded me of a fellow collector who surprised me on a few occasions with prelims of cover/illustration pieces that I owned, he would come to me during a Comic Con (usually when I was in the queue for a sketch) and just say "here, this is a gift for you", and left me speechless

anyway, love Kevin's prelims here!
