DescriptionMatt Murdock and Karen Page... One of the hottest items of the Silver Age, not only together, but in a rather infrequent relaxed mood. Rest assured it will not last...But, at least, we've got a fine example of how Gene Colan paces the story with fluidity and grace, coming up with fresh angles on each panel, adding dynamics to what could have been a very dull scene. No tension yet (after all, it's only Page 2), but a lively, almost smiling, pace. The rhythm of every day life by a true master! Social/Sharing |

I totally agree Colan was as great at drawing spectacular action pages as he was at depicting absolutely ordinary scenes. And that's the mark of a true master storyteller!

Thanks Shelton! I agree of course: Colan’s influence looms large on generations of artists who followed him on DD...

Colan / Shores, a favorite team, love the fronds in panel one but wearing shoes on the couch - she is a wild woman!

Gene was the master of mood and atmosphere, and Shores inks over his pencils were always sensitive and expressive. Great page from a great run of stories!

Thanks Sean! The soap opera side of Marvel Comics is not necessarily celebrated, but it's true that, with versatile artists like Gene Colan, the stories could easily encompass every style!
