You know what else, Robert? There is a strong Dave Stevens vibe here that I can't quite put my finger on, but I think it has a lot to do with this piece's appeal for me, aside from the outstanding design. I'm thinking about the cover Dave did for Jonny Quest, something evocative here of the inks on that cover or something. Or sumpin'.
