Description

I've been angling like a many-angled one for a Zenith piece since I started collecting original art but good (well, any) pages seem very hard to find. Very happily I was able to help feed the artist, rather than the art dealers, and arrange for Steve Yeowell to revisit one of my favourite scenes from Phase III.

The scene with everyone standing in silence looking at the Einstein-Rosen bridges that are appear above their heads always stuck with me. I always loved the stillness, the long shadows and the complete absence of anything much going on at all. Steve tweaked this, took the view a bit closer to the ground, and generally did a lovely job.

Here we have Zenith plus, clockwise from his right, The Blue Wizard, Meta-Maid, Tanya, Big Ben, Acid Robot Archie, ???, Lux, Tri-Man, Oakman and the Leopard, with the Steel Claw (left) and Miracle Man (right) at bottom.

Anyone have any ideas who the lady at right (three o'clock) could be?

Thanks, Ben! It's great to have Archie in there; I gave Steve the general set-up and he just ran with it. Steve's a complete gent and I can hardly believe the amount of work he put into this.

This piece isn't getting anywhere near enough love; simply beautiful work from Mr Y. Interesting to see that Steve changed Zenith's position in version 2 then went back to the original version for the final pencils. Lovely...

The switch-around was down to me, really. Steve assumed I'd want Zenith face-on for this, but part of what I liked about the original take on the scene was the back view of Zenith, which made him seem less dominating than usual and even fairly insignificant. Steve then did another version and it was obvious that he was right all along; for this scale and angle, seeing Zenith face-on works best.

Pretty darn amazing this. Steve's art is just wonderful. And great image choice for this commission.

The lady at 3'o clock could be Ruby Fox ? zenith is my favourite comic series of all time. Congrats on such an incredible commission

Thanks, Gary - you're a fine judge of all things Yeowell so I'm happy you like this one! As for Ruby Fox, no, not her (not Spook, either). She'll probably remain nameless, which is fine by me!

Is it Spook ?

No, Spook is wearing a Beret and a stripy top in these scenes. Definitely not Ruby either! Even the handy Zenith scorecard draws a blank... http://www.internationalhero.co.uk/s/scorcard.htm

Great stuff (I thought it might be Spook too - she is next to Lux)
