Description

When I learned Joe was painting a series of Marvel Corner Box art for prints he was selling I was thrilled to learn one of them was of Captain America. One of my earliest memories of seeing Captain America was going to a local barber shop in Brooklyn around the age of 5 and seeing one of his comics on their magazine table. I'm sure that book had a ripped cover and was well read by the patrons but that Kirby corner box on the cover made an indelible image in my young mind. Early on Cap became my favorite hero and still is! The Cap corner box from the 70's was the ones I saw on the news stand when I first started buying comics, but that beat up back issue that was laying in a pile of magazines at the barber shop had the powerful Kirby pose in the corner. Glorious glorious glorious! I wasn't prepared for the Spidey piece to be topped and this did it. Wow. Wonderful concept and sterling execution. Bravo!
