DescriptionI can't believe it's been over 8 years since I purchased my first corner box paintings directly from Joe Jusko! This was one of the first he painted after the initial ones he sold directly to me. I always liked this one, being an OG Avengers fan, and made up my mind to go for it when it recently went up for auction. It makes a nice companion piece to the other Avengers paintings I have from Joe! Since I purchased my initial corner box paintings, they have been published as covers, which makes them even cooler! I'd still like to acquire a few others like Thor and Hulk if the current owners ever want to reach out to me about them. And there is at least one other nostalgic corner box I'd love for Joe to paint one day if he finds time in his schedule!Social/Sharing |

Jusko put a brilliant new shine to classic cornerbox images! Lots of posters and prints get made out of them. This particular one is a stand out because of the Tales of Suspense pose and color scheme connection.

I actually tried to do a painted copy of this exact same corner box back in the early 80s. Let's just say, my is decomposing in a landfill somewhere, while Mr. Jusko's is being proudly displayed on CAF!

I've always loved the corner boxes that Marvel introduced so many years ago. They always made it easy for me to spot my favorite books in the comic racks when only the top of the cover was showing. They were bright and colorful and made Marvel books distinctive. Then I was blown away when Joe Jusko started painting corner boxes as full-blown covers. This one is particularly memorable because I loved reading Iron Man comics (Among many others). Stunning painting by the great Mr. Jusko. Fantastic pick-up, congrats!
