DescriptionThis page is currently on exhibit at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco. A gift from Sam to Rory Root, late owner of the legendary Berkeley comic shop Comic Relief. Comic Relief was one of the first stops during Sam's signing tour for the release of the #1 issue. My favorite SANDMAN stories were the early ones when the series was more horror than fantasy. This one's perfect for me. Rory was hugely influential in shaping my comics reading as a young kid in the '80s. Thanks Rory, I'm honored to have this in my collection.Social/Sharing |

The pages from the early Sandman issues were just so unique and different at the time they were coming out. There was nothing else like them - and I think what Sandman would ultimately become has made many forget where it started. So fun to see a page like this - thanks for sharing it, Felix!

A comment a decade, still wouldn't be enough on a piece of this caliber! A perfectly balanced piece from a historic first issue!
