Blue Ed is no sad sack, folks.

Here is a touching page from Stray Bullets featuring Kobby (one of Dez Finger�s many victims), Blue Ed, Jane, and Eli. As you can gather from the dialog and impending misbehavior, this is quite the crime book. Somehow, Lapham generates ongoing stories that are as outrageous and bizarre as they are poignant and realistic. I find the storytelling to be compelling throughout this page, and Kobby�s expression in panel 4 is priceless.

Between Lapham and Brubaker/Phillips, I feel I�ve been living through a golden age of crime comics.

Great heavy ink shadows gives it that nice atmosphere of criminal activity and the great banter that shows what motivates them to do their job. Loyalty, brotherhood, greed, or just living their given lot in life, etc.
