DescriptionThanks to Wallace for a smooth transaction! Here are his insightful comments, ganked from his original CAF posting of this piece:"Everyone knows that Al used himself as a model for Corrigan, and that can be plainly seen in the second panel. But who is the villain? Louis Jourdan? Gig Young? This daily was inscribed to long time comicbook fan/dealer and good guy Earl Shaw." The secondary character reminds me a bit of Tony Randal as well. I just love how Williamson rendered hair in his newspaper work. Wouldn't it be nice to see a return to this level of quality of art in dramatic newspaper strips in the modern era...well, I guess I'm one of the few who still buys the newspaper in hard copy form. Wonderful example, Williamson at his absolute best! In a Corrigan movie I think I would cast Christian Bale for the leading role :)

Panels 2 and 3 are both particularly strong. This is a lovely example minus the glue stains or zipatone yellowing we usually see marring the full impact of these originals. I love the expression in panel 3. Congrats!

My vote is for Louis Jourdan as well! (As an aside, LETTER FROM AN UNKNOWN WOMAN is his best film.)

Great daily! Williamson was at his peak for decades and right through the Corrigan run.

The character does remind me of the late, great Tony Randal. Al had such a flair for style in these strips. Brilliant stuff!

What a beautiful strip! It would be incredible to see a return to this level of quality in the comics pages today. I guess the energy and excitement has migrated to webcomics but so few seem to reach this level of craft.
