Description

Morbius #1 - Selene (from Underworld) illustrated by Conny Valentina.

I had penciled her a while back, and the client likes me to only tackle a few of these a month, so it was great to get back to it.
Since most of these are for one client, I like to try and give him as much variety as possible. So anytime I start a new cover I try to think of how to keep it fresh while still maintaining my own style.
So when I coloured the Selene I knew the background needed to be sparse in order for her to really stand out. Because of her beautiful pale skin and dark hair and outfit, I loved the look of the white background, but still needed to add a little something so she wasn't just floating there like a cardboard cutout, so I added the pale blue which drifts into the white and disappears.
One of my favourite covers, I am supremely lucky as I have a client who leaves all the artistic decision making to me. What more can an artist ask for?
