DescriptionBack in August, Sasha posted a piece on her instagram that she was going to be selling. I really liked it but unfortunately for me I hesitated and didn’t inquire about it quickly enough so it ended up selling to someone else. Sasha could tell I had really wanted it so she did something that I wasn’t expecting. She offered to do a commission. In January of last year I inquired about commissioning a Kimono Girl and she politely told me she didn’t take them which I was fine with. She must have remembered that conversation so of course I was going to take her up on the offer.I requested that she do the Kimono Girl as a companion piece to “Why’d You Go And Leave Me All Alone?”. What Sasha came up with is nothing short of astounding. When she first sent me a picture of the piece I zoomed into her face and started getting teary eyed. There is just so much raw emotion in her eyes that it brought tears to mine. You know you really have a special piece when it can bring that kind of emotion to the viewer. Sasha has to be one of my favorite artists. Her work is always phenomenal and it's always a pleasure talking to her. I guarantee there are more of Sasha's piece in my future but for now I can't thank her enough for agreeing to take on my commission. She didn't have to offer it but that's what makes her so awesome. She could tell I was bummed and out of the goodness of her heart wanted to make me happy. So thanks again for everything, Sasha. Size 8x11 Social/Sharing |

Kyle, what are the media on these black and white pieces by Sasha Ira? They appear to be pencil, but they might also be airbrush (?). I like her rendition of willowy hair texture the most about what she does, and the enigmatic facial expressions she gives to the young ladies she portrays. Her work is indeed beautiful.

Her work is indeed beautiful.I seem to recall her posting that she uses pencil and acrylic for pieces like this. You can find more of her work on Instagram. She goes by the username _sashaira on there. I agree. It's always a little hard to interpret the expressions but they are always so beautifully done. For this piece upon first glance you see a slight smile and think she's happy but then upon further inspection you catch the glimmer in her eyes and just fell the sadness overcome you. It's just amazing the emotion she is able to portray.
