Description

After confirming the authenticity of this drawing with Bill via email (it looks 100% legit, but you can never be too careful on ebay these days...), I snagged this bad boy a few months ago. *You can see Bill's original pencils in the detail below.* It's pretty early Sienkiewicz...I'm thinking around 1981. You can still see plenty of that initial Neal Adams influence, in the foreshortening as well as the rendering of MK's right arm.

This thing is huge, and while the pencils were pretty nice on their own, they kinda screamed out for a good inking. So, I contacted Joe Rubinstein. We agreed on a price and a plan, and I shipped off the original to him. This was the first time I'd had an original inked rather than lightboxing over a scan, but all went perfectly smoothly. Joe was very responsive to communications and rather pleasantly chatty. :)

Anyway, I got the final inked version in the mail today, and it looks far better than I'd expected!! Actually, Joe inked it, then went over it with grease pencil for the silvery shading, and finished it up with a bit of white paint for highlights.

Great work by both. Sienkiewicz is and always will be the definitive MK artist for me.

Yep, same here. It was great fun to watch the evolution of BS' style through his MK (and New Mutants) run.
