THE LEGENDARY TOOTHLESS IN VIKING ART!

Created especially for this "draw a dragon for charity" auction, this stylized depiction of the beloved dragon, Toothless, from the How to Train Your Dragon animated films was created by professional illustrator, Chris Kawagiwa. Chris' fantastic sense of design is in top form as he depicts Toothless in the tradition of the Viking art, which is usually series of winding curves that interconnect into a complex patterns, and in this case create a fantastic graphic version of everyone's favorite nightfury dragon! As the artist says, "As one of my favorite animated worlds, I always loved seeing the little cultural details depicted in the How to Train Your Dragon films. I wanted to emulate Viking inspired Celtic knotwork patterns and depict Toothless as he might be shown by artisans within that universe. Using a phonetic Rune translator, the letters along the border spell out the opening lines of the first movie that kicked off the beloved franchise." There are even a couple more easter eggs worked into the piece, Hiccup's skull symbol and Toothless' red tail fin! If you're a fan of Celtic knot artwork and How to Train Your Dragon, you know you've got to have this piece!

Titled "The Legend of Knot Fury", the canvas measures 8"x10" and the art area is 6.5"x5.5" and was created with ink and watercolor on bristol paper. This one of a kind piece of art has been signed by the artist -- and is suitable for framing, so bid early and often and remember, KEPYR is a volunteer charity, so 100% of our proceeds go to help children in desperate need in the Rohingya refugee camp in southeast Asia.

Artist Bio: Chris Kawagiwa is an art director and illustrator with work spanning a broad range of media from key art, books, music videos, to theme parks. His design clients have included Netflix, Disney, Google, Dark Horse and more but he also enjoys working on passion driven indie projects. Whether it's a single image or a hundred, an emphasis on character driven storytelling remains a consistent through-line of interest. His first official foray into a galaxy far, far away was in the form of licensed "Star Wars" apparel and more recently, poster art for "The Mandalorian" through Acme Archives. A graduate from California State University Long Beach with a BFA in Illustration, he resides in Orange County with his wife and daughter and enjoys DIY prop building and modeling dad skills on Din Djarin.
